ACCOUNTING MANAGER – JOB DESCRIPTION

Accounting Manager Responsibilities:

The Accounting Manager is responsible for all aspects of the accounting for the fuel wholesale and retail businesses. The Accounting Manager provides executive leadership with financial information by researching and analyzing accounts; preparing financial statements. The Accounting Manager works with, leads and develops the accounting team. The Accounting Manager reports directly to the President.

Accounting Manager duties will include, but are not limited to:
  • Billing/accounts receivable process management – including customer billing, daily fuel pricing verification, new customer setups, customer correspondence, posting payments
  • Review freight or other invoices, investigate pricing discrepancies and correspond with vendors
  • Review daily banking transactions, reconcile and post to the general ledger
  • Account for and reconcile intercompany transactions, working closely with other accounting staff
  • Prepare detailed general ledger and profit & loss/departmental analyses upon request
  • Prepare monthly balance sheet reconciliations, including bank reconciliations
  • Assist with tax return preparation
  • Assist with month-end close and financial statement preparation and analysis, assist with Audit procedures
  • Assist with other accounts receivable and accounts payable processes as needed
  • Assist President with other responsibilities as needed, including absence cover
  • Teach, train and develop the team
Experience/Required skills:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related field
  • Two (2) years applicable accounting and management experience
  • Ability to communicate (orally and in writing) in a professional manner
  • Reliable and punctual, has ability to thrive in a fast-paced, change-oriented, high-pressure environment
  • Ability to multi-task and be detail-oriented to produce timely and accurate results to management
  • Must be self-motivated and results-oriented with the ability to function effectively as a team member yet work independently
  • Ability to establish and meet deadlines and to quickly develop clear priorities
