Job description

Job Summary:

The Cash Accounting Clerk is responsible for supporting the finance department by ensuring the

accurate auditing, balancing, and reconciliation of all cash operations across the resort. This role focuses

heavily on monitoring safe counts, verifying daily cashier activities, and detecting transaction

discrepancies. Working under the direct supervision of the Staff Accountant - Cash & Balance Sheet, the

ideal candidate brings high numerical precision, strong organizational habits, and a strict commitment to

internal control protocols.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Audit, balance, and verify cash and coin inventories within physical safes and vaults across all

resort revenue centers daily.

• Reconcile daily cashier drop bags, shift activity reports, and point-of-sale logs against physical

cash counts.

• Identify, investigate, and document any cash overages or shortages, escalating significant

discrepancies to leadership immediately.

• Prepare, issue, and track bank floats and cash drawer assignments for resort cashiers and

department heads.

• Assist the Staff Accountant - Cash & Balance Sheet with monthly balance sheet reconciliations,

bank statement reviews, and account audits.

• Compile and input daily cash receipts and revenue journal entries to maintain accurate general

ledger activity.

• Prepare secure bank deposits and coordinate directly with armored car services for safe cash

pickups and currency deliveries.

• Maintain organized, audit-ready physical and digital files for all daily cash logs, deposit slips, and

vault verifications.

• Support resort cashiers by providing training on cash handling procedures, drop guidelines, and

internal control policies

Assist with month-end financial closing tasks, general accounting projects, and clerical office

support as requested.

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to lift, carry, and transport heavy coin bags or cash boxes weighing up to 30 pounds.

• Visual acuity required for reviewing complex spreadsheets, financial reports, and identifying

currency denominations.

• Ability to communicate clearly with team members, property managers, and bank couriers.

Qualifications, Education, Experience, Skills, and Abilities:

• High School Diploma required; Associate degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business

Administration preferred. Experience can be substituted for advanced education preference.

• 1–2 years of proven experience in cash handling, bank telling, or professional

bookkeeping/accounting support.

• Strong numerical aptitude with a track record of high accuracy in data entry and calculation.

• High proficiency with Microsoft Office, specifically with formatting data and basic math formulas

in Excel.

• Prior experience utilizing standard cloud-based ERP applications like NetSuite preferred.

• Exceptional attention to detail and sharp problem-solving skills for tracking down variance

errors.

• Outstanding organizational skills and the ability to meet rigid daily processing deadlines.

• Complete commitment to data privacy, loss prevention principles, and keeping strict

confidentiality metrics.
