Job description

Temporary to Hire Accounting Specialist for Office Supply Company
Pay rate: $14.50-$16.50 per hr. DOE
Hours: Monday through Friday 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. with 1 hour lunch

The Accounting Specialist will report to the Accounting & Credit Manager

The Accounting Specialist will be responsible for:
- Handling all customer phone calls related to payments
- Will make adjustments (tax, transfers, finance charges, etc.)
- Handles special billing requests from customers and updates Accounting Manager on past due customers
- Assists with monthly & year-end close out procedures & records
- Prepares NYS Sales Tax monthly & quarterly reports
- Process, posts & makes daily deposits to bank of all checks received and records deposits in checkbook (Must keep checkbook balance accurate)
- Petty Cash Transactions
- Reviews & files daily AR Batch Report & Daily Invoice Register
- Prepares all store bags for interoffice distribution including sending weekly payroll checks to retail stores & sales offices. Receives & signs for store bags & CODs from truck drivers and secures in file

Qualifications:
-HSD or GED
- 1-3 months related experience
- Accounts Receivable experience is preferred
- Proficiency in MS Word, Outlook, Excel is required
- Must be able to work independently while meeting deadlines
