Job Responsibilities This position will be based in Columbus, GA and perform accounting duties for all 16-county health departments and 50+ programs to include, but not limited to accounts payable, accounts receivable, purchasing, budget monitoring and/or related general accounting processes. You will support the Department by utilizing your expertise to fulfill the following responsibilities: Balance and reconcile accounting records, statements, journals, ledgers or reports.

Disburse payments and post to appropriate accounts. Compiles and maintains records and files. May analyze financial reports to assess compliance.

May apply GAAP guidelines. May compile and prepare standard accounting reports. Perform routine accounting, clerical, billing, and/or claims processing duties for assigned accounts.

Responds to inquiries to solve routine accounting problems. Prepares requested materials for audits of financial data or records. Process or reconcile financial transactions such as accounts payable and/or invoices for processing payments.

Provide information or interpretation to third parties such as banks, auditors, vendors and governmental entities. Verify the accuracy of information to be billed, tracks account activity, bills consumers and resolves vendor billing inquiries. Receives additional training, as required, to gain full proficiency and experience in all areas.

Minimum Qualifications MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: High school diploma/GED and two (2) years of job-related accounting or fiscal experience or one (1) year of experience at the lower-level Accounting Technician Trainee (FIT019) or position equivalent. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Two (2) years of recent experience performing accounts-payable job-related functions. Associate's degree in a business curriculum or related field from an accredited college or university preferred.

Experience working on multiple projects simultaneously with short deadlines for completion. Advanced level of proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Excel. Additional Information All West Central Health District 7 employees are deemed essential workers in the event of an emergency.

As such, you may be called on to participate in an event including but not limited to staffing a shelter, working at a Specimen Point of Collection Site (SPOC) and/or working at a Point of Dispensing site (POD). If you are called on to participate, you are required to report to the designated site as a condition of employment, whether the emergency occurs during or outside regular work hours. The DPH Commissioner and agency leaders encourage all employees to engage in regular wellness activities and to make lifestyle choices that promote health and well-being.

The use of physical activity breaks during the workday is authorized to support this philosophy and help employees meet their wellness goals. A maximum of 30 minutes of physical activity may be allocated per workday, typically in the form of two 15-minute breaks or one 30-minute break.
