Job Description

The Wealth group, a part of Wealth and Investment Management (WIM), is seeking a strong, senior accountant to join its Controllers team. Wealth Controllers is responsible for the accounting, reporting and financial controls for the Wealth line of business. Wealth Controllers is looking for a self- motivated candidate who will handle multiple tasks within tight deadlines within an ever-changing business environment. The candidate is expected to thoroughly solve problems and respond to ad hoc inquiries from both internal and external parties in a professional, resourceful and efficient manner, work independently, and prioritize and meet deadlines in a fast paced environment.

Responsibilities will include but not limited to the following:

Month end close and monthly/quarterly processes for a wide array of accounting and financial reporting functions relating to the group's business, including but not limited to:

Analytical review includes but is not limited to analysis of transactional details, financial data and reports

Financial reporting includes but is not limited to regulatory reports such as FFIEC 031, 041 & 009 and SEC reports 13F & 13G

Maintenance of desktop procedures and process flowcharts and documentation, for all significant accounting processes

Review and approve monthly financial reports and journal entries, complete and review account reconciliations and certifications to ensure accuracy and GAAP accounting and compliance, to include, but not limit to, review for accuracy and integrity, data from the general ledger, sub-ledger, unit reports and various financial systems

Provide technical accounting support and financial analysis, for accounting purposes

Provide support for complex accounting projects initiated by Wealth and other groups

Assess and monitor financial control environment, and implement controls as needed

Support corporate COSO and compliance requirements, from assisting with creating and updating COSO narratives and documentation, to addressing deficiencies and compliance review

Required Qualifications:

4+ years of accounting experience Desired Qualifications:

A BS/BA degree or higher in accounting 

CPA-Certified Public Accountant designation 

Strong accounting skills

Intermediate Microsoft Office skills

Strong analytical skills with high attention to detail and accuracy Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills

The ideal candidate will have prior financial services accounting and reporting experience, excellent problem solving and analytical skills and effective communication skills. Experience with Essbase is a plus.

Candidate Must Have

Strong proficient PC skills (advanced Microsoft Excel skills required Essbase and irisWeb)

Ability to multitask and follow-up on outstanding issues while meeting sometimes conflicting and moving deadlines

Strong organization and detail-oriented skills, with proven ability to manage and prioritize work to meet deadlines in spite of frequent interruptions

Proven ability to work effectively in a team environment and to be flexible, adjust to changing priorities and work well under strict timelines

Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to articulate issues, influence individuals and build consensus

Ability to ask probing questions in a tactful and professional manner, partnering well and conceptually to arrive at the best solutions for process improvement related to accounting functions

Public accounting audit experience a plus

Demonstrated knowledge and application in understanding legal intercompany settlement processes and applying GAAP to financial reporting

A familiarity with trusts, trust operations, banking, banking systems, and /or Wealth, Brokerage, and Retirement activities are a plus
