Job description

Small CPA firm is seeking a highly skilled and analytical tax professional/accountant to prepare complex tax filings and deliver proactive tax planning. You will work directly with the owner of the company and individual and corporate clients to optimize tax positions and ensure compliance with federal and state regulations. The ideal candidate possesses strong tax and accounting knowledge and exceptional client-service skills. Must be detailed oriented and have above average written and verbal communication skills.

KEY RESPONSILITIES

  • Tax Preparation: Prepare various levels of individual, corporate, partnership and trust tax returns
  • Tax Planning: Prepare tax planning strategies and projections to minimize tax liabilities for clients
  • Accounting: Prepare, review and assist clients with their accounting and bookkeeping questions
  • Client Advisory: Serve as the primary point of contact for clients and assist them with a variety of tax and accounting issues
  • Compliance: Stay updated on changing tax laws. Research tax issues for conformity to government rules and regulations
  • Government Notices: Research, resolve and respond to various government tax notices received by clients
  • Knowledgeable in payroll, 1099's and Business Property Statements

QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS

  • Experience: 4+ years of progressive experience in tax preparation, tax planning and public accounting firm
  • Education: Bachelor's or Master's degree in accounting/tax
  • Certification: Certified Public Accountant or Enrolled Agent certification
  • Technical Skills: Proficient in Lacerte tax and planning software and Excel
