What is an account services intern?

Account Services Interns are entry-level professionals who support the account management team within organizations such as advertising agencies, marketing firms, or corporate marketing departments. Their primary responsibilities include assisting with client communications, preparing presentations and reports, coordinating project timelines, and supporting the team in ensuring client needs are met. This internship provides valuable exposure to client relations, project management, and the inner workings of account services, making it an excellent opportunity for students or recent graduates interested in marketing, advertising, or client services.

What types of projects and tasks can I expect to work on as an account services intern?

As an Account Services Intern, you’ll typically assist with coordinating communication between clients and internal teams, preparing meeting notes, tracking project timelines, and compiling campaign reports. You may also help with research, developing presentations, and supporting client pitches. The role offers a hands-on introduction to client management and agency workflow, making it an excellent opportunity to learn about the full lifecycle of client accounts while working closely with experienced account managers and creatives.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an account services intern, and why are they important?

To thrive as an Account Services Intern, you need a solid grasp of marketing or communications principles, attention to detail, and typically enrollment in or completion of a relevant degree program. Familiarity with project management tools, CRM systems, and Microsoft Office Suite is often required. Strong organizational skills, effective communication, and a proactive attitude help you stand out in this client-facing, fast-paced environment. These competencies are vital to support client needs, ensure smooth project execution, and contribute to a positive team dynamic.
