Senior Engagement Manager


We are looking for an experienced account manager who is also skilled in project management; this role is a hybrid, and we need someone who has a diverse skill set that bridges the project and account worlds. One minute youll discuss the details of a projects deliverables with the creative team and the next, youll be talking budgets with your client. These roles arent always combined, but when they are, its pretty fun.

You will be expected to run your own account(s), and work with team members at all levels. Our clients and our team members are scattered around the globe. Were a smaller group, so everyone gets their hands dirty. Youll always be working with a team who has a passion for great work, including creatives, strategists and technologists who will help you push the work forward.


Location: Youll work remotely from Toronto, Ontario.


What youll do


Account Management Responsibilities - A strong account manager takes the time to understand the client and their business and can even anticipate their needs. They are the bridge between the client and our internal team; they ensure clear communication between both sides and have the tough conversations when necessary.

  • Act as the primary contact for projects between the client, team, and vendors
  • Identify opportunities to deliver on clients needs or to solve problems
  • Build positive working relationships with key client teams
  • Understand and anticipate clients short and long-term goals, as well as their competition
  • Manage issues in a professional and timely manner, finding solutions and consensus among all parties


Project Management Responsibilities - A strong project manager takes the time to understand what it is the client needs so they can take that information back to the team and communicate it in a way that they can easily get to creating the magic. They are very organized and scheduled but can stop everything and switch directions at the drop of a hat.

  • Ensure everything is in place to run and execute a project on time and within budget
  • Translate the clients needs into a language the team understands to get the work done
  • Conduct thorough scoping, planning, costing, and timing of projects
  • Oversee the entire delivery and execution process, ensuring and facilitating effective team communication and collaboration
  • Own, facilitate, document, and disseminate outcomes for meetings
  • Manage development priorities and timelines
  • Manage creative activities and client reviews
  • Communicate project status/risks to stakeholders
  • Identify, document, and communicate issues and changes that may affect the project


What youll need to succeed


  • Minimum 4-5 years recent experience in a marketing/advertising agency environment required, 5 - 7 years preferred
  • 6 - 8 years in an account management or project management role with at least 3 years experience in a hybrid accounts and project management role
  • Proven ability to move between the accounts and project worlds
  • Proven ability to grow client accounts
  • Experience working in an inter-agency setting is an asset
  • Adept at managing multiple clients and projects with heavily matrixed teams
  • Experience managing projects through the entire lifecycle, from planning to execution
  • Attention to detail and strong organizational and people management skills
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and facilitation skills
  • Flexibility when faced with changing priorities or circumstances
  • Experience with project management and issue tracking tools
  • Experience with budgeting and resource management
  • Experience managing project teams including deliverables, timelines, and internal prioritization
  • Experience managing all aspects of conversations with clients, including project intake, briefing, longer term planning, and challenging conversations
  • Experience mentoring or managing junior team members
