Job description

The Clinical Manager at Tucson Dermatology leads and manages the daily operations of the clinical team, including Medical Assistants, Lab Technicians, and Support Specialists. This position ensures high standards of patient care, provider support, and compliance with safety and quality protocols. The Clinical Manager acts as a liaison between clinical and administrative teams, oversees inventory, facilitates training, and supports QMS initiatives. 

Primary Responsibilities 

  • Supervise daily back-office operations and clinical support staff. 

  • Ensure timely patient flow, adequate staffing, and proper provider support. 

  • Manage inventory and coordinate with the Account Manager for supply ordering. 

  • Monitor clinical documentation, HIPAA and OSHA compliance, and infection control protocols.  

  • Lead team huddles and provides guidance and coaching to clinical staff. 

Secondary Responsibilities 

  • Assist with onboarding, training, and competency evaluations. 

  • Maintain back-office schedules and timecards in coordination with HR. 

  • Serve as clinical liaison during patient escalations or procedure issues. 

  • Identify areas for improvement and propose workflow optimizations. 

Interdepartmental Collaboration 

  • Partner with Providers and the Front Office Lead for smooth clinic operations. 

  • Coordinate with HR on performance reviews and corrective actions. 

  • Work with the Quality and Billing departments to ensure documentation accuracy and QMS adherence. 

Qualifications and Skills 

  • Certified Medical Assistant or equivalent clinical background 

  • 3+ years of leadership experience in a medical or dermatology clinic 

  • Knowledge of dermatology procedures, Mohs surgery procedures, and cosmetic services

  • Proficient in EHR systems and clinical documentation workflows 

  • Strong leadership, problem-solving, and communication skills
