Job description


Job Summary:
The Lead Engineer position is responsible for independently delivering engineering services, from conceptual design through construction completion.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Complete project planning, coordination, and execution with some oversight, managing time effectively to meet project schedules and task deadlines.
  • Independently complete conceptual design through construction drawing development for multiple small and medium-sized standard projects simultaneously.
  • Create conceptual designs certified to Building Codes, Energy Codes, and LEED standards, while conducting economic and energy analyses.
  • Responsible for plumbing calculations, design and layout of equipment, and plumbing systems on assigned projects.
  • Utilize a solid understanding of commercial plumbing applications-such as gas piping, waste and vent, domestic water distribution, and kitchen plumbing design-alongside a strong understanding of ACCO engineering standards and project execution processes.
  • Responsible for the quality of design drawings and models across all assigned projects.
  • Proactively communicate and coordinate project designs with Project Management, Construction and Service departments, Controls, and other trade partners.
  • Effectively and professionally communicate with colleagues and project team members, ensuring appropriate engagement of engineering applications and/or managers in project decisions.
  • Field engineering: assist with project execution, trade coordination, scheduling, document management, and problem solving/troubleshooting, as required.
  • Oversee other design team members to complete project assignments when requested by Manager, and perform other duties as assigned.

Position Requirements (Work Experience, Skills, Licenses, etc.):
  • Excellent understanding of engineering and design fundamentals
  • Thorough understanding of systems and applications
  • Excellent familiarity with Building Codes and industry standards
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD and Revit

Education and Experience:
Required:
  • BS in Engineering or Construction Management
  • 3+ years of experience with a Design/Build Mechanical Contractor or consultant

Desired:
  • Professional Engineer license

Travel Requirements:
Travel required 5-10% of the time to other office locations.
Hours:
This is a non-exempt position from Monday through Friday. Work hours begin and end between 8:00 am and 5:00 pm with a one-hour break for lunch and two rest breaks. Eight hours per day is required and other occasional overtime may be necessary for business needs
