Job description

Job Title: Digital Accessibility Specialist
Job Description: Garver is seeking Digital Accessibility Specialist to join our Transportation Business Line Strategic Communications team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for improving digital content to align with accessibility best practices and WCAG guidelines. This role requires a detail-oriented individual with a passion for creating inclusive digital environments and training team members on what that requires.
This is an in-office position working from any of our 60+ offices with preference given to candidates located in our Tampa, Florida; Oklahoma; Texas; or Missouri offices.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Evaluate and remediate digital content for accessibility standards, including PDFs, Word documents, PowerPoint presentations, and websites.
  • Conduct accessibility audits of digital content and provide guidance and instruction for WCAG and other accessibility guidelines.
  • Collaborate with content creators to develop best practices for creating accessible documents.
  • Prepare and present reports on the status of compliance efforts.
  • Provide training and support to staff on accessibility tools and techniques.
  • Stay current with emerging technologies and updates to accessibility legislation.
  • Work with a variety of subject matter experts, including IT, legal, engineering, and communications teams, to develop accessibility strategies.
  • Coordinate tasks and manage deliverable timelines with project managers.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in communications, IT, web design, or related fields
  • Knowledge of WCAG 2.1 or later success criteria
  • Demonstrated experience with Section 508 compliance and remediation
  • Experience remediating web pages, Microsoft Office files, PDFs, and Audio/Video files
  • Familiarity with accessibility testing and review tools (e.g., WAVE, ANDI, Adobe Acrobat)
  • Ability to identify accessibility issues and propose effective solutions

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience using screen readers (JAWS, NVDA, VoiceOver)
  • Familiarity with document authoring and remediation workflows
  • Accessibility certification (e.g., DHS Trusted Tester, IAAP CPACC/WAS)
  • Knowledge of Civil Engineering
  • Familiarity with Adobe Creative Cloud
  • 3+ years of demonstrated experience
