Shaped is an API for developers to seamlessly add personalized ranking and recommendation into their products. These frictionless discovery experiences help end-users find what they want faster, and, consequently, grow conversion and engagement business metrics. 

Ultimately, our goal is to make AI accessible and we see machine-learning for discovery (e.g. TikTok "For-You Page", FB "News feed" and YouTube "What to watch next") as the best place to start.

Shaped is a seed stage start-up backed by top investors (e.g. Y-Combinator, Susa Ventures, Tribe Capital etc...) and executives (e.g. Google, Amazon, Uber, Dropbox etc...). Our team comes from Meta, Google, Apple and Uber. We're remote but have an office in Brooklyn, New York.

Job Description

We are looking for a machine learning engineer to design, build, experiment and optimize Shaped's AI discovery engine. You will be a founding engineer that works on cutting-edge technologies and research, and applies them to impactful ranking problems. As one of Shaped's early employees you will help shape our product roadmaps and engineering culture.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's in computer science, data science or mathematics related field. Master's degree or PhD will be advantageous.
  • 6+ years of industry experience in a machine learning or data science role
  • Proficient with Python, SQL
  • Have the willingness to wear many hats, be passionate about unblocking issues for customers, and have an excitement for problem-solving
  • In-depth knowledge of mathematics, statistics and algorithms.
  • Operate well within fast paced, small teams 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
