Position Overview:

We are seeking an Expert-Level Drupal Developer with specialized expertise in ADA Title II/III compliance and WCAG 2.2 Level AA accessibility standards. In this temporary contract role, you will take full technical ownership of the development, UI implementation, quality assurance, and accessibility remediation of our web applications and custom modules. Working directly with the Product Owner, you will be responsible for translating project requirements into accessible, performant code—handling everything from back-end logic and front-end layout/styling to comprehensive accessibility testing and

self-QA without relying on dedicated design or testing teams.

Key Responsibilities:

Drupal Architecture & Development Custom Module & Theme Development: Architect, build, and maintain enterprise custom Drupal (10/11) modules and themes using clean, maintainable PHP, Twig, and CSS/SASS.

Full-Stack Engineering: Build intuitive user interfaces, integrate third-party web services/APIs, optimize database queries (MySQL/PostgreSQL), and manage application workflows.

Performance & Security: Optimize site performance, execute caching strategies, and apply routine security updates and code audits.

Migration & Upgrades: Assist in site architecture upgrades, content migration, and core/contributed module maintenance.

Accessibility, UI/UX Standards, & Endto-End Testing (ADA / WCAG 2.2 AA) Hands-on UI Implementation: Translate Product Owner requirements directly into responsive, accessible, and user friendly web layouts without needing pre-built design specs.

Accessibility Remediation: Conduct deep technical remediation of complex interactive components, web forms, dynamic views, and custom web applications to conform strictly to WCAG 2.2 AA standards. WCAG 2.2 Compliance: Enforce criteria unique to WCAG 2.2, such as Accessible Authentication, Dragging Movements, Target Size (Minimum), Focus Appearance, and Consistent Help.

Self-Directed Quality Assurance: Perform end-to-end technical and cross-browser QA testing for all user stories prior to Product Owner review.

Assistive Technology Testing: Directly test and validate application behavior using screen readers (JAWS, NVDA, VoiceOver), screen magnification, and keyboard-only navigation.

Semantic Code Standards: Enforce proper semantic HTML5, WAI-ARIA roles, state attributes, and keyboard focus management across custom themes and templates.

Skills Required:

  • 5+ years of Drupal experience

Skills Preferred:
