Role: SQL Server Developer (with AI)
Location: Oxnard CA (Onsite)


Job Description SQL Server Developer.
We are seeking a highly skilled SQL Server Developer with deep expertise in database design, complex query development, and performance optimization. The ideal candidate will have strong technical problem-solving abilities and hands-on experience with payroll-related calculations and systems.
Key Responsibilities
Database Development: Design, develop, and maintain complex SQL Server databases, stored procedures, functions, views, and triggers.
Complex Query Writing: Write and optimize complex T-SQL queries, including joins, aggregations, window functions, CTEs, dynamic SQL, and query performance tuning.
Stored Procedure Development: Build, debug, and optimize large, enterprise-scale stored procedures with a focus on performance and reliability.
Problem Solving: Analyze and resolve critical database issues, including performance bottlenecks, deadlocks, data integrity issues, and production incidents.
Payroll Domain Knowledge: Develop and support payroll calculation logic, including wage calculations, deductions, overtime, taxes, bonuses, and timesheet/payroll integrations.
Performance Tuning: Optimize query execution plans, indexing strategies, and database performance for high-volume transactional systems.
Data Integrity & Security: Implement robust transaction handling, error handling, data validation, and security best practices.
Collaboration: Work closely with application developers, DBAs, business analysts, and payroll/HR stakeholders to deliver accurate and efficient data solutions.
Code Reviews & Mentoring: Conduct code reviews, mentor junior developers, and enforce best practices for database development.
Required Skills & Experience
10+ years of professional experience in SQL Server development.
Strong proficiency in T-SQL, including stored procedures, functions, triggers, views, and complex queries.
Proven experience writing and optimizing complex SQL queries for large datasets.
Deep understanding of SQL Server internals: indexing, execution plans, query optimization, and performance tuning.
Demonstrated ability to solve critical technical problems under pressure.
Hands-on experience with payroll calculations and/or payroll systems.
Experience with SQL Server 2016/2017/2019/2022/ Azure SQL MI
Strong understanding of transaction management, concurrency, and error handling.
Experience using AI-assisted development tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot, ChatGPT, SQL-specific AI assistants) to write, optimize, and review SQL code.
