Job description

Control Systems Engineer

Information Technology Department

Position Summary:

The Control Systems Engineer is responsible for the development and implementation of controls and systems for use throughout the plant. These controls include routing of units, tracking units, paint booth job stack data, visual displays, downtime tracking and IDEM data management.

Outline of duties:

  1. Utilize PLC programming such as Allen Bradley, Modicon, GE Fanuc, Siemens, Mitsubishi, HMI, etc. for robots and automated lines
  2. Utilize SQL Server Database for programming, storing procedures, creating and/or maintaining vehicle tracking databases, employee tracking and evacuation procedures
  3. Develop web page interfaces for floor user's tools using VB.net. Utilize visual basic, VBA, ASP, HTML, C, C++, and Java languages
  4. Train and assist maintenance and engineering personnel on the use of iFix (HMI programming) to aid in tracking line issues. Develop and implement controls and systems for use in different shops throughout the plant
  5. Build custom visual basic applications for Maintenance for use in iFix
  6. Supports installation of new machinery
  1. All other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering technology, Industrial Engineering, related field, or equivalent
  • Proficient with PLC logic and/or programming with any of the following PLCs: Allen Bradley, Modicon, GE Fanuc, Siemens, AutomationDirect, Mitsubishi, Omron, Aromat, Toshiba, HMI, or SCADA programming
  • Self-motivated - high initiative
  • Ability to manage projects from start to finish
  • Ability to use data to drive activity, productivity, and cost
  • Familiar with PC Programming skills including but not limited to .NET, VB, VBA, C++, and Java
  • Experience with Database integrations

Desired Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering technology, Industrial Engineering, or related field, plus 4 years relevant experience
  • Experience Designing and Integrating DCS and SCADA systems for real-time data access.
  • iFIX and G Suite specific experience
  • Experience with VFDs, servos, and motion control. Automation controls, Vision system, RFID experience, Mechanical aptitude, basic mechanical troubleshooting skills
