Position Overview

Oculens is seeking an Access Control Technician to assist with the installation, configuration, and maintenance of modern security systems including surveillance cameras, access control systems, and related infrastructure.


This role involves  traveling to installation sites, where you will work alongside electricians, technicians, and project managers to deploy systems in commercial and institutional environments.

The ideal candidate has experience with door hardware installation, including installing concealed/surface rod panic bars, magnetic locks, rim strikes, etc.


Responsibilities

  • Install and configure access control systems, card readers, and door hardware
  • Install concealed/surface rod panic bars, magnetic locks, rim strikes, etc
  • Experience with ADA operators and integration of inbound/outbound buttons into access panel preferred
  • Assist with system setup, testing, and troubleshooting
  • Ensure installations meet company standards and project specifications
  • Work with electricians and project managers during deployments
  • Document installations and assist with system handoff to clients
  • Travel to project sites, sometimes for multi-day installations


Requirements

  • 1+ years of experience in security systems and door hardware
  • Experience installing or servicing cameras, access control, or alarm systems
  • Familiarity with low-voltage wiring and cable termination
  • Basic understanding of networking (IP addresses, switches, routers)
  • Ability to work on ladders, lifts, and active job sites
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
  • Must be willing and able to travel 
  • Valid driver’s license

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with access control platforms - including installation and programming
  • Experience with IP-based camera systems
  • Experience installing Verkada devices
  • Low-voltage certification or technical training
  • Experience working on commercial or institutional installations
  • OSHA 10/30
  • Lift certification
  • Experience with bending and installing conduit
  • Basic project management experience
