Position Overview
The Access Control Specialist (ACS) supports secure construction operations by controlling access to facilities hosting or preparing to host U.S. Government information. This role is responsible for managing access control points, screening personnel and materials, conducting patrols, and ensuring compliance with the Construction Security Plan (CSP). The ACS operates within a secure construction environment and is responsible for identifying and reporting security incidents in accordance with established escalation procedures.
Key Responsibilities: 
  • Control and monitor access to secure construction areas and verify badges and authorizations
  • Inspect personnel, materials, and equipment in accordance with CSP and Post Orders
  • Conduct interior and exterior patrols and document all activity
  • Identify, document, and report security incidents, discrepancies, or power loss
  • Coordinate with CSTs for delivery inspections and alternative entrance access
  • Perform duties in compliance with the SOW, CSP, and Guard Orders
  • Ensure only authorized personnel, materials, tools, and vehicles are granted access
  • Conduct required inspections and walking patrols to maintain security coverage

Required Qualifications
  • Clearance: Active Secret clearance required (JPAS/DISS)
  • Citizenship: U.S. Citizen
  • Age Requirement: 21 years or older *Note this is a government, not a company, requirement
Required Experience
  • Experience in access control or security for classified facilities or construction sites
  • Ability to control access points and screen personnel and materials
  • Ability to conduct walking patrols and maintain security presence
  • Ability to complete security documentation and reports
  • Ability to conduct extended walking patrols

 
Physical Requirements
  • Must be able to sit, stand, walk, bend, and move throughout secure facilities for extended periods of time
  • Position may require occasional lifting and/or movement of moderate amounts of weight, depending on assignment requirements

 
Preferred Qualifications
  • Familiarity with Construction Security Plans (CSP), incident reporting, and patrol tracking systems preferred

Work Schedule & Conditions
  • Standard Schedule: Monday–Sunday
  • Guaranteed Hours: 48 hours per week across 4–5 days (dependent on shift)
  • Overtime Hours: Some overtime available
  • Flexibility Requirements: Must be available to support weekend shifts on a rotating schedule

Compensation& Benefits
  • Local Rate: $ 27.00 per hour
  • OT Rate: $ 40.50 per hour (for hours worked over 40/week)
  • Benefits: Health, 401(k), PTO & Sick Leave, Paid Holidays
    • Benefits transfer between contracts as an IDS employee
