Job description

Job Title: Access Control Technician II - Data Center | Dallas, TX Area
Location: Dallas Metro Area, TX (with local travel to project sites throughout the market)
Shift: Day Shift (exact time may flex based on project needs)
Start Date: Immediate
We are hiring an experienced Access Control Technician II to support the deployment of security and low voltage systems across data center projects in the Dallas, TX metro area. Work will include a mix of new construction builds and installations within existing, operational data center environments, with local travel required to sites throughout the Dallas market.
This is a great opportunity to join a growing, mission-critical data center program with a team that values attitude, communication, and work ethic just as much as technical skill. If you have solid access control and low voltage experience and are looking to take on more complex work with less oversight - including mentoring junior techs - we want to hear from you.
What You'll Be Doing
  • Installing, terminating, and wiring access control systems and associated hardware
  • Pulling, routing, labeling, and dressing low voltage and structured cabling
  • Installing and wiring security devices including:
    • Door contacts and request-to-exit devices
    • Motion detectors and sounder/siren devices
    • Electric strikes and magnetic locks
    • Card readers and optical/security devices
  • Wiring and terminating access control panels, controllers, and boards
  • Programming and configuring access control head-end software (e.g., Lenel, Software House, AMAG, Genetec, S2, or similar platforms)
  • Installing and supporting structured cabling infrastructure and MDF/head-end room buildouts
  • Mounting, installing, and wiring IP cameras throughout the facility
  • Assisting with IP address assignment and camera configuration
  • Supporting firmware upgrades and downgrades on security devices as required
  • Commissioning, testing, and troubleshooting systems independently to ensure proper operation prior to project closeout
  • Reading and interpreting wiring diagrams, riser drawings, and installation plans
  • Maintaining clean, organized, and professional installations, plus accurate documentation/as-builts
  • Providing technical guidance and on-the-job support to Level I technicians
  • Traveling locally between project sites within the Dallas, TX market as assigned
  • Working within both active new-construction sites and existing, occupied data center environments, following all applicable safety and access protocols
  • Coordinating with project leads, PMs, and general contractors
  • Following site-specific requirements, safety protocols, and security procedures

What You Need
  • 2-4+ years of hands-on experience installing and servicing access control systems
  • Working knowledge of at least one major access control platform (Lenel, Software House, AMAG, Genetec, S2, etc.)
  • Comfortable troubleshooting systems independently in the field
  • Ability to pass all required site onboarding and background/security requirements
  • Ability to work safely on active construction sites and within live data center environments
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation for local travel between sites in the Dallas, TX market
  • Standard low voltage hand tools
  • Strong communication skills and a team-first mindset

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience reading blueprints, wiring diagrams, and riser drawings
  • Familiarity with MDF/IDF environments
  • Background in data center, commercial construction, or mission-critical environments
  • Manufacturer-specific certifications a plus, not required
  • Prior experience mentoring or leading junior technicians
