Career Opportunity

We are looking for candidates to fill an Access Control Technician position at our Wallops Island, Virginia, station. The Surface Combat Systems Center (SCSC) at Wallops Island requires support in management, engineering, operations, and technical expertise for the activation, operation, maintenance, and engineering of equipment, systems, and computer programs. This support is crucial for all Naval Sea Systems Command and Program Executive Office, Integrated Warfare Systems missions and projects conducted at SCSC. SCSC offers live and simulated integrated warfare capabilities in a net-centric maritime environment, aimed at developing, testing, evaluating, and conducting fleet operations and training for the warfighter.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Install, configure, and maintain facilities electronic security system hardware and software in include prox card readers, REX devices, controllers, motion sensors, video surveillance equipment, and associated servers.
  • Maintain training and certification for deployed technologies
  • Respond onsite to trouble calls outside normal working hours
  •  

 

Travel

  • This position includes a low level of travel.

Education, Knowledge, Experience, Skills, and Abilities Required 

  • BS degree in Information Technology, Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Science, or Software Engineering from an ABET accredited or NCAE designated institution 

OR 

  • One of the following trainings 
    • DAU DCWF WRC 451 System Administrator - Basic Playlist 
    • CIN A-531-0767 Tactical Computers and Network Operator 
    • NEC C28A Ship's Signal Exploitation Equipment Increment Foxtrot (SSEE INC F) Maintenance Technician 

OR 

  • One of the following certifications 
    • Certified Network Defender (CND) 
    • CompTIA A+ 
    • CompTIA Network+ 

Qualifications

  • Two years experience with managing, trouble shooting and repairing enterprise access control and video surveillance systems.
  • Experience with Lenel database administration, Access Control hardware and Milestone video recording system, software and database operation, and maintenance and repair of access control systems and video surveillance systems.
  • Active DoD Secret security clearance is highly desired; however, candidates eligible to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret security clearance will be considered. The selected candidate will receive a contingent offer if they do not hold an active clearance. A start date will be established once an interim Secret clearance is granted.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen.
  • Must maintain the capability to communicate with their supervisor or manager when not in the office.

Physical Requirements

  • Sitting for long periods, standing, walking, crouching, and kneeling.
  • Reaching, handling, and using equipment, keyboards, and mobile devices.
  • Ability to lift items weighing up to 20 lbs.
