Job Description:

The Associate Director, Media Strategy & Buying will act as a strategic anchor and leader for the dedicated For Your Consideration (FYC) entertainment media account. This role is responsible for overseeing the end-to-end media ecosystem designed to elevate the client's originals in the minds of Hollywood guild, academy, and industry awards voters (Emmys, Oscars, SAG, etc.).
The ideal candidate is an expert in digital and social media landscapes, possesses direct platform buying capabilities, and is a strong people manager capable of leading a team of three. While the core of this role sits within Digital and Social, the Associate Director will also strategically touch multi-channel extensions, providing a holistic view of the FYC market.
Core Responsibilities
1. Media Strategy & Campaign Planning
FYC Specialist Strategy:Lead the development of comprehensive, highly targeted media strategies specifically tailored to targetentertainmentindustry voters across key voting windows and phases.
Media Architecture:Build integrated, innovative media plans acrossdigitalchannels, inclusive of publisher direct andpaid social, ensuring messaging aligns with creative positioning and critical voting dates.
Client Advisory:Serve as a trusted, client-facing lead to present strategic media maps, pivot solutions, and campaign timelines directly to senior stakeholders.
2. Execution, Buying & Platform Operations
Hands-On Buying Execution:Direct hands-on execution of in-platform buying (Self-Serve Social) alongsidepublisher-direct partnerships and trade media negotiations.
Cross-Channel Integration:Act as the strategic lead oversight for core digital/social elements, while collaborating on the integration of traditional media elements as needed:Core Focus:Social Media,Premium Display, and Video.
Holistic Touchpoints:Out-of-Home (Billboards,Wallscapes, etc.), Trade Print,Spot TV,Audio (Podcast/Radio), andConnected TV/Streaming.
3. Optimization & Data Analytics
Real-Time Performance Management:Oversee daily in-flight optimizations across platforms to ensure maximum delivery efficiency, frequency capping among voter targets, and pacing safety.
Advanced Attribution & Reporting:Direct the team in building automated, executive-ready performance reports and post-campaign analyses (PCAs) that translate media metrics into clear client takeaways.
4. Team Management & Leadership
Direct Leadership:Manage, mentor, and foster the professional growth of a high-performing team of three (3) media specialists.
Operational Workflows:Establish strong QA processes for campaign set-up, trafficking, and billing to ensure zero-error execution in a fast-paced environment.
Resource Pipeline:Partner closely with the Director of FYC to manage team bandwidth, workflow delegation, and cross-functional agency communications.
Experience & Qualifications
Required (The Must-Haves):
Experience:6-8 years of media planning and buying experience, ideally within an agency network environment, with at least 1-2 years in a management or team leadership capacity.
Platform Expertise:Deep hands-on knowledge of major social ads managers (Meta, TikTok, LinkedIn, Reddit, etc.).
Entertainment Acumen:Experience running media in the entertainment ecosystem (streaming, broadcast, or theatrical). Comfort managing rapid pivot schedules based on industry news and nominations.
Client Management:Proven track record of handling high-touch, senior client relationships with clarity and professionalismcultivating andmaintainingtrust.
Leadership:Proven ability and experiencemanagingothers; a strong desire and capability to grow and develop talent
Communication:Compelling and persuasive written and verbal communicator and presenter. Knows how to reach a compromise when necessary.
Depth of Knowledge:Expert level media math skills
Flexibility:Comfortable working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
Preferred (The Nice-to-Haves):
FYC Landscape Knowledge:Familiarity with the specific rules, regulations, and targets associated with guild and academy awards voters.
Traditional Media Fluency:Direct experience or foundational understanding of managing traditional media channels, specifically LA-market Out-of-Home (OOH), trade print (Variety, THR), Local Broadcast, and digital audio platforms California: $110,000.00-$130,000.00
