Bloomsbury Academic Publishing is seeking an editorial intern for our Greenbelt, Maryland office during the Summer/Fall 2026 term. The academic division commissions titles in a broad range of subject areas, including Literary Studies, Communication Studies, and Politics. 


We are a small team, and our interns are a key part of our day-to-day operations. As a Bloomsbury Academic editorial intern, you will work with the Editorial team on a variety of projects that reflect the diverse aspects of academic publishing: 

  • Manage departmental shipping
  • Manage submissions to the Library of Congress program
  • Update data systems as needed
  • Complete administrative support tasks for peer review
  • Complete course, academic, and picture research
  • Coordinate cover design and copy between editorial and design departments

Opportunities to take on other editorial projects may also arise. 


Duration:

July 6, 2026 - December 22, 2026

Requirements

We are looking for a creative and motivated individual who ideally has the following skills: 

  • High level of familiarity with Microsoft Office (particularly Word, Excel, and      Outlook)
  • Firm grasp of grammar and spelling, with a keen eye for detail
  • Ability to work efficiently and independently
  • Strong communication skills suitable for a fast-paced, professional environment

We require a commitment of 15-20 hours per week for the entire internship term. Scheduling is flexible, but work should occur during standard business hours: Monday through Friday, 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM EST.

This position pays $18.00/hour, and candidates may wish to arrange for college credit for the placement to supplement.


Location:

This position requires two in-office days per week at our office in Greenbelt, Maryland. Candidates must reside within a commutable distant to the office in MD, DC or VA and work during our local office hours, Monday through Friday, 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM EST.
