Assistant Director of Annual Giving - Institutional Advancement
Job Description
The Assistant Director of Annual Giving will participate in the execution of strategic broad-based giving with the Director of Annual Giving, exploring how to synergize direct mail, e-mail, crowdfunding, and phonathon, and growing year-over-year results in overall dollars raised. They will work collaboratively with colleagues and assist with Annual Fund, Alumni Relations, and student philanthropy events as needed.
The Assistant Director needs to be a strong writer with keen attention to detail. They will support all of the office communications to the constituents of Ashland University. This person will also support the Alumni Programming team in the following but not limited to social media communications, event participation and planning. This position will be an integral member of providing the campaign result data to support the overall strategies of the Annual Giving team and the Office of Institutional Advancement. They will oversee the tele-funding strategy of Ashland University and will be required to work non-traditional work hours for portions of each academic year.
  • Execute five (5) or more direct mail campaigns each fiscal year. Assist the Director in content writing, audience segments, and content themes.
  • Execute five (5) or more strategic email campaigns each fiscal year. Assist the Director in content writing, audience segments, and content themes.
  • Execute two (2) or more online crowdfunding campaigns each fiscal year. Assist the Director in content writing, audience segments, and content themes.
  • Execute two (2) phonathon campaigns each fiscal year. Determine timeline, audience segments, and content themes.
  • Integrate specific audience segments with appropriate solicitation methods: Alumni, 50th Reunion Class, Graduates Of the Last Decade (GOLD prospects), current students, Faculty and Staff, Parents of Current Students and Parents of Alumni, and President's Circle members.
  • Track annual progress of direct mail, email, online crowdfunding, and phonathon campaigns.
  • Track President's Circle membership and fulfillment rates.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Contacts:
  • Department: Frequent contact with alumni programming team, and advancement services to perform essential functions.
  • University: Contact with Office of Undergraduate Admissions, and University Marketing as required by performing the essential functions.
  • External: Frequent contact with donors, alumni, etc., and AUAA Board of Directors as required by essential functions.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree from accredited university required.
  • Knowledge of higher education fundraising practices or previous higher education work experience.
  • Willingness to work non-traditional hours.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • High attention to detail.
  • Creative and flexible with strong organizational skills.
  • Computer proficiency include MS Office, G Suite, and ability to learn new software.
  • Must be able to work independently and collaboratively with peers, supervisors, and students.
  • Applicant must be currently authorized to work in the United States. Ashland University will not sponsor or take over sponsorship for an employment visa.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in running a phonathon or tele-funding program.
