  • Perform electrical testing such as Megger, Surge comparison, Resistance, Hi-Pot, and Polarization Index tests, and maintain winding records.

Job description

Meador an Openwork Company is currently seeking an experienced Electric Motor Winder / Motor Rewind Technician for a Motor Repair Shop in Houston, TX! This hands-on position is responsible for repairing, rewinding, rebuilding, and testing AC and DC electric motors, generators, and other rotating electrical equipment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Remove, document, and replace damaged motor windings
  • Rewind stators and rotors and install replacement coils
  • Read and follow winding diagrams and electrical schematics
  • Perform insulation repairs and varnish processing
  • Conduct electrical testing, including Megger, Surge, Resistance, and Hi-Pot testing
  • Troubleshoot electrical failures and determine root causes
  • Maintain accurate repair and quality documentation
  • Perform brazing, soldering, and electrical connections
Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • 2+ years of motor winding, rewinding, or related electrical repair experience
  • Knowledge of AC and DC motor construction
  • Ability to read electrical schematics and winding diagrams
  • Experience using electrical testing equipment safely
  • Ability to lift up to 75 lbs. and stand for extended periods
Preferred Experience:
  • Technical school or electrical apprenticeship training
  • Experience with form-coil windings, generators, medium-voltage, or explosion-proof motors
  • Familiarity with EASA repair standards
