Job description

Position: Building Maintenance

Supervisor: Deputy Director

Location: Los Angeles, GLAD Administration


Classification: Non-Exempt, 100% FTE

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Perform periodic maintenance assignments including but not limited to painting, drywall, and other building-related work; identify and react to building problems as they arise and resolve problems in timely manner;
  2. Oversee activities performed by outside service providers and vendors;
  3. Maintain a preventive maintenance program for building and surrounding property;
  4. Manage any ongoing building or property projects;
  5. Develop strong partnerships with established vendors;
  6. Document all maintenance work on building and property;
  7. Keep up to date files on all equipment, scheduled maintenance, and emergency issues;
  8. Perform standard cleaning tasks including but not limited to dusting, trash removal, vacuuming, mopping, sweeping, kitchen and bathroom duties, and basic window cleaning;
  9. Ensure the facility is locked and secured after 5 PM Monday-Friday
  10. Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  1. Must be fluent in American Sign Language (ASL)
  2. Building Contractors License (B-1 General Contractor) strongly desirable
  3. Background as a building contractor is strongly preferred
  4. Excellent planning and technical skills
  5. Must be able to communicate confidently
  6. Outstanding analytical and problem-solving skills using fact-based objective orientation
  7. Must be highly organized and be able to multi-task and meet deadlines.
  8. Must maintain a cooperative relationship with co-workers, managers, directors, and the CEO
  9. Must have a CA drivers license, reliable transportation and maintain up to date auto insurance

The Greater Los Angeles Agency on Deafness is a private non-profit organization that was founded in 1969 and now has 13 locations serving 10 counties in Southern California.

Salary Range: $28.50-$29.81/hour ($59,280-$62,000/year)
