Job description

SCIENTIFIC PROJECT MANAGER (SPM), TSAI LAB, The Picower Institute for Learning and Memory (PILM), to plan, write and manage white paper, proposal and grant applications, submitted to a diverse range of private and public funding sources, including philanthropic individuals, private foundations and the National Institutes of Health (NIH) in the laboratory of Professor Li-Huei Tsai, Founding Investigator of the Aging Brain Initiative (ABI), and the Director of the Alana Down Syndrome Research Center (ADSC). This role is also central in managing post-award reporting obligations and supporting researchers in effectively communicating their work to funders and stakeholders. The SPM's portfolio will include proposal applications, presentations and reports for the Tsai lab, the ABI, the ADSC and the Neuro-Therapeutics De-risking effort, a translational effort, designed to increase the transition of market competitive research advances toward real-world impact in neuroscience and brain health. The SPM will also provide support in the development and management of Alana Down Syndrome Center scientific and outreach programs. The Tsai lab is an approximately forty-member lab that conducts research investigating the molecular-, circuit-, and systems-level basis of neurological disorders that impact learning and memory. Model systems include transgenic mice, human induced pluripotent stem cell (iPSC) models, and human brain samples. Multidisciplinary approaches are employed, including in vitro and in vivo electrophysiology and neurocircuitry mapping, neurobehavioral testing, biochemistry and immunohistochemistry, large-scale imaging, epigenomic and transcriptomic approaches, and computational analysis of big data using machine learning.
