Description:

Dann Marine Towing, LC. Is, a sixth-generation family owned and operated tugboat company, managing a fleet of 24 ocean going tugboats and inland push boats. Our vessels range in horsepower from 1100 H.P. to 6200 H.P. The fleet operates on the US East Coast, Gulf of Mexico, as well as on the Great Lakes. All vessels in the fleet are equipped with the latest navigation and communication equipment available today. Each vessel is staffed by qualified and professional crews. In addition to the vessels, Dann Marine Towing has a fleet of Tank, Jumbo Hopper barges and deck barges, as well as five self-unloading cement barges that are available for charter.


The AB/Tankerman is directly responsible and accountable to the vessel Barge Captain & DMT Barge Manager for the proper safe cargo operation and maintenance of all mechanical equipment on the petroleum barge, and to safely operate and efficiently maintain the barge machinery. The AB/Tankerman is accountable for all barge equipment and operating systems.


The AB/Tankerman job duties are highlighted below but not limited to:

  • Safe cargo operations onboard a petroleum barge
  • Performs barge maintenance
  • Receive & Understand load/discharge plans
  • Communicate with dock & vessel personnel
  • Preparing deck equipment for docking and sailings to include mooring cables, crane setup, open/close line up valves, manifolds open/close vents, etc.
  • Connect hoses for load/discharge
  • Use Veslink to manage charterer required paperwork
  • Line-handling
  • Calculate drafts for cargo tonnage and barge trim
  • Monitor ballast/de-ballast during cargo operations
  • Clearing lines after load/discharge for proper shut down
  • Shutdown of all equipment to prepare barge for sea
  • Fuel transfers after load/discharges, completing required/necessary paperwork
Requirements:
  • Valid Merchant Mariner Credential w/ AB (Limited or Unlimited) & Tankerman - PIC w/ DL (dangerous liquid) endorsements
  • Valid Medical Certificate
  • TWIC
  • Bunkering and or Marine Engineering Experience preferred
  • Pass Pre-Employment physicals & drug screen
