Job description

General Responsibilities

The Railcar Inspector is responsible to conduct comprehensive visual inspections of railcars to ensure they meet all Association of American Railroads (AAR), Federal Railroad Administration (FRA), and specific customer requirements.

This position falls under the company's safety-sensitive category. Successful candidates must comply with all company safety policies and procedures, including a zero-tolerance drug and alcohol policy and are subject to pre-employment, random, post-incident, and reasonable suspicion drug and alcohol testing.

Essential Duties

  1. Performs visual inspection of railcar.

  • Ensures railcar is within the AAR/FRA requirements for interchange movement.

  • Ensures all customer requirements are met.

  • Ensures photos are taken for support of repairs.

  1. Generates an accurate estimate of the repairs required.

  1. Completes all required inbound forms.

  1. Maintains open communication with team members to solve problems and provide instruction to quickly resolve production issues.
  1. Ensures clear and effective communication channels are maintained with customers and outside inspectors.
  1. Abides by the current laws and organizational policies and procedures designed and implemented to promote an environment which is free of harassment and other forms of illegal discriminatory behavior in the workplace.
  1. Cooperates with, participates in, and supports the adherence to all internal policies, procedures, and practices in support of risk management and overall safety and soundness and the companyโ€™s compliance with all regulatory requirements.
  1. Reports pertinent information to the immediate supervisor as requested, or according to an established schedule; compiles information as necessary or as directed and provides data to appropriate personnel.
  1. Responds to inquiries relating to his/her particular area, or to requests from customers, other personnel, etc., within given time frames and within established policy.

Ancillary Duties

  1. Performs tasks which are supportive in nature to the essential functions of the job, but which may be altered or re-designed depending upon individual circumstances.

Compensation details: 26-30 Yearly Salary
