Job description

Serverless technologies are dramatically changing the business landscape for AWS customers large and small. AWS Lambda launched the serverless movement and is at the heart of AWS's serverless portfolio enabling customers to run everything from Alexa commands to massively scaled services driving Fortune 100 companies.
AWS Lambda's data plane team is looking for software engineer who wants to work on a global scale service with a collaborative team. We will work together to grow the Lambda service tenfold and provide increasingly secure, performant, and observable serverless technology. A successful team member will exhibit creativity, empathy, and optimism as we push the boundaries of serverless computing in the cloud. We are inspired by what has come before and motivated to create what comes next.
You'll thrive in this role if you are interested in large scale, fault-tolerant distributed systems, low latency request processing, and p100 anomalies. You are capable in one or more programming languages and open to learning new ones. You include customer experience when discussing engineering alternatives and value creating APIs that make "The right thing, the easy thing." You value operational sustainability and advocate for eliminating flaky tests as soon as possible. You also think having fun goes together with tackling hard problems like supercomputing, high availability, and building loosely coupled gRPC-based microservices all while continuing to securely and reliably handling massive traffic with millisecond latency.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
- 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
- 1+ years of software development engineer or related occupational experience
- 1+ years of designing and developing large-scale, multi-tiered, multi-threaded, embedded or distributed software applications, tools, systems, and services using: C#, C++, Java, or Perl experience
- 1+ years of Object Oriented Design experience
- Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field
- Experience programming with at least one software programming language
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- 3+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
