Job description

JOB SUMMARY
A Laborer will assist Superintendents, Foremen, equipment operators, welders, and other craft personnel with daily construction activities. This position supports pipeline and utility construction operations by performing general labor tasks, maintaining a safe and organized work environment, and assisting with the installation, repair, and maintenance of natural gas distribution systems in accordance with project plans, specifications, and company standards.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
• Assist project supervision, equipment operators, welders, and craft personnel with daily job-site activities.
• Load, unload, transport, and organize materials, tools, and equipment.
• Serve as a swamper/spotter to assist equipment operators with safe operation and movement around the job site.
• Assist with the layout, preparation, and installation of piping systems in accordance with project plans, specifications, and industry standards.
• Space pipe segments accurately to prepare for welding or installation activities.
• Assist with lowering-in of pipe into trenches using proper rigging techniques and safety procedures.
• Perform trenching, excavation support, and backfill operations as needed to support pipeline installation.
• Assist with coating welded joints and protecting installed pipe components from corrosion when required.
• Operate hand and power tools safely and effectively to support construction activities.
• Install and remove materials, supports, fittings, and other components as directed by supervision.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and hazard-free work area to promote safety and efficiency.
• Identify and report potential safety hazards and assist in implementing corrective actions.
• Follow all client, company, and project-specific safety policies, procedures, and regulations.
• Inspect work areas and completed tasks to ensure compliance with company standards and project requirements.
• Follow verbal and written instructions from supervisors, foremen, and project leadership.
• Work cooperatively with other crafts and support team members as needed.
• Support and exemplify the company's mission, values, and commitment to safety in all interactions.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS
• Experience in oil and gas, natural gas distribution, pipeline, utility, or general construction preferred.
• Ability to understand and follow project plans, specifications, safety requirements, and supervisor instructions.
• Ability to operate hand and power tools safely and effectively.
• Ability to work in all weather conditions and temperature extremes.
• Ability to work extended hours, overtime, weekends, and varying shifts as project requirements dictate.
• Ability to perform repetitive physical movements and manual labor activities.
• Must be able to frequently stand, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, squat, crawl, climb, and twist throughout the workday.
• Ability to push, pull, grasp, and reach with hands and arms.
• Ability to work overhead and perform tasks requiring use of hands and arms.
• Ability to climb and maintain balance while working in and around construction environments.
• Ability to regularly lift and carry materials weighing up to 50 pounds.
• Must be able to wear and properly operate required personal protective equipment (PPE), including hard hats, safety glasses, gloves, and other job-specific safety equipment.
Pay Range: $18 - $25 per hour
