The Coordinator, Operations & Logistics, centralizes and manages the physical flow of goods, inventory, and logistics support for BCZ CDC's retail and event functions across the Network. Reporting to the Senior Program Manager, Operations, this role is essential for supporting large-scale retail and event activations that drive Economic Development Initiatives. The Coordinator, Operations & Logistics ensures that BCZ's physical operations - from inventory management and fulfillment to event asset delivery and procurement support - are organized, efficient, and aligned with the organization's mission and strategic priorities.

Working closely with the Operations and IT team, the Brand Experience team, and the Event Crew, this role provides the logistical backbone that enables BCZ's retail and event functions to run smoothly across all Network entities. The Coordinator, Operations & Logistics is committed to BCZ's mission to center Black culture, arts, and economic empowerment in support of the restoration, preservation, and place keeping of East Oakland's current and legacy residents and business owners.

This role operates within BCZ's collaborative hierarchy - a governance model that emphasizes shared leadership, decentralized decision-making, and a collective commitment to our mission. While this role description outlines primary responsibilities, all team members are expected to contribute across functions as organizational needs evolve.

This role is guided by BCZ's commitment to restoration, preservation, and place keeping for East Oakland's current and legacy residents and business owners.

  • Governance & Operations Programs: Supports BCZ's operational backbone by ensuring physical goods, inventory, and logistics functions are managed with accuracy, accountability, and efficiency.
  • Economic Development Initiatives: Provides direct logistical support to EDIC retail operations, the BCZ Brand Experience team, and event activations that advance economic empowerment for East Oakland's current and legacy residents and business owners.

Core Methodology Triad:

  • NEXUS - Network of Excellence and Unified Stewardship: Cross-functional coordination framework that connects all BCZ teams, entities, and initiatives into a unified, mission-aligned network.
  • ACA - Accountability and Continuous Advancement: Performance and growth framework that guides individual and team accountability, continuous learning, and iterative improvement.

  • STEER - Collaborative Empowerment Engine: Operational backbone framework that guides logistics coordination, vendor management, and cross-team support functions.

Life to Legacy Framework: Supports economic empowerment and stability by ensuring retail operations function efficiently across all Network entities.

  • Iterative Tech Fluency: Learn and use BCZ's digital tools - including shared spreadsheets, inventory management systems, and team communication platforms. Stay curious and keep improving.
  • Demonstrate a Commitment to Iterative Growth: Proactively master new technologies and stay agile as organizational processes evolve. Demonstrate flexibility, adaptability, and a commitment to continuous growth.
  • Be a Team Player Who Grows With Us: Stay alert and jump in to help wherever the team needs it most. As our organization grows, so will your role.

  • Execute physical fulfillment: Coordinate fulfillment for online sales and manage inventory restocking - including rotation and maintenance - for all retail points (Anchor, Micro-Counters, and Events).

Event Logistics and Asset Coordination

  • Coordinate event asset delivery: Ensure all necessary physical event assets and inventory are delivered to event sites, coordinating with the Event Crew for transport and setup logistics.
  • Support on-site event operations: Conduct regular visits to the AKOMA Hub and AKOMA Store sites and attend major AKOMA Events to provide on-site logistics support as needed.
