About this Job The Division of Administration/Office of Risk Management has a vacancy. This job title has an assigned pay grade of AS-613. The Administrative Program Specialist A is an entry level administrative professional within the Medical Review Panel (MRP) Program, which is solely responsible for the qualification of medical malpractice coverage for all public state health care providers that are qualified under LA R.S

40:1237 et seq. AN IDEAL CANIDATE SHOULD POSSESS THE FOLLOWING COMPETENCIES: Accepting Direction: The ability to be open and willing to follow guidance or instructions. Following Policies and Procedures: The ability to follow, reinforce, adapt, or develop policies and procedures to maintain compliance with federal and state legal requirements, State Civil Service rules, and organizational policies.

Making Accurate Judgments: The ability to assess options, weigh risks, and make sound decisions using available information and logical reasoning. The Division of Administration is the state government's management arm and the hub of its financial operations. Division offices perform a wide variety of activities including the following: Overseeing the state's capital construction program Working to provide state and federal grants for community development Development of the state budget Providing technology services Giving agencies guidance in the state purchasing and contracting process as they seek goods and services Administering a program that provides federal funds to help Louisiana residents recover from a series of devastating hurricanes Minimum Qualifications Three years of experience in administrative services; OR Six years of full-time work experience in any field; OR A bachelor's degree.

EXPERIENCE SUBSTITUTION: Every 30 semester hours earned from an accredited college or university will be credited as one year of experience towards the six years of full-time work experience in any field. The maximum substitution allowed is 120 semester hours which substitutes for a maximum of four years of experience in any field. Job Duties and Other Information Job Duties: Responsible for critical mail handling and distribution processes that propel all operations of the MRP Office. Responsible for MRP financial/cash management activities and related risk compliance functions for filing fees received, attributable to each public claim. Supports the MRP Director and a senior co-worker in organizing or maintaining paper and/or electronic files, logs, and various document or timeline tracking systems.

Serves as the Unit Records Coordinator for MRP, to ensure statutory compliance with Records and Information Management functions related to records retention, storage, and retrieval. Other Important Information: A successful candidate should possess advanced organizational skills and be capable of developing a sound understanding of R.S. 40:1237.2, the MRP enabling legislation, to perform duties effectively and with care

The incumbent must have/gain a general knowledge of state procedures and policies and practice individual discretion in their application. This position reports to and receives general supervision from the Medical Review Panel's Administrative Program Director.
