Job description

NIET is seeking a Research Analyst/Senior Research Analyst to support all aspects of the organization’s research activities. This position requires expertise in managing quantitative datasets, applying appropriate statistical methods to analyze data, and effectively communicating complex research findings to diverse stakeholders. The individual in this role will design and execute quantitative analyses, produce high-quality reports and publications, and provide research expertise throughout the organization. The level of hire will be commensurate with experience and qualifications. This position will report to the Director of Research.

Duties Include, But Are Not Limited To:

  • Lead research projects from conceptualization and data compilation to analysis and reporting
  • Apply advanced quantitative methods to analyze complex datasets and generate actionable insights
  • Conduct literature review to inform study design, methodology, and findings
  • Write and publish research findings, including reports, peer-reviewed papers, and research briefs
  • Prepare and deliver presentations at conferences and internal meetings to disseminate research findings
  • Clean and maintain large quantitative datasets from multiple sources for analysis
  • Develop or refine data collection instruments to ensure data quality and reliability
  • Monitor data collection across projects and contribute to evaluation design and project planning
  • Support grant writing, evaluation, and reporting for federal, state, and local initiatives
  • Working on special research projects for CEO as needed

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Ph.D. in research methods, education policy, economics of education, education research, or related field
  • Three years of experience working on research projects, including managing, cleaning, and analyzing complex data sets
  • Strong statistical coursework and experience, including conducting quasi-experimental designs to evaluate program effectiveness
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience with education research, data management, and statistical programs (e.g. SPSS, R)
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word; experience with Microsoft Access is a plus
  • Strong internet and electronic literature research skills
  • Demonstrated excellent writing and communication skills, including written, oral, and visual communication of data
  • Willingness and ability to work as part of a small team
  • Willingness and ability to learn new data analysis techniques and software programs
