Job description

The ASE Live Stream Engineering team is looking for a Live Stream Broadcast Systems Engineer. Our team powers live streaming experiences in the AppleTV app on Apple platforms and 3rd Party devices. You will contribute to the design and implementation of features, tools, and processes to ensure operational and engineering excellence in delivering live streaming events on the platform. Being a domain expert for live content acquisition, encoding, and delivery, you will drive investigations into any technical issues with the acquisition, ingest, encoding, and delivery. Description
The ASE Live Stream Engineering team is looking for a Live Reliability Engineer to join our Services team. Our services power experiences in the Apple TV app on Apple platforms and 3rd Party TVs.
You will contribute to architectural discussions, create performant solutions, and participate in team development and knowledge growth. You will be a subject matter expert for live content acquisition, broadcast production and delivery. You will collect high-level project requirements, take ownership to lead cross-functional teams, and deliver first-class software.

Assist in broadcast transmission design for high profile live events
Setup and maintain live encoding and broadcast workflows
Work with cross-functional client teams to ensure live video features are preforming as expected
Ability to troubleshoot realtime live video delivery issues, under real-time pressure
Work with operations and production teams to collect requirements for new infrastructure buildouts
Work with operations teams to troubleshoot video delivery and live workflow issues
Troubleshoot complex partner and vendor integrations
Creating, maintaining and executing playbooks, RCAs and integration specifications
Preferred Qualifications
Familiar with SCTE-35/104 and SCTE-224/ESNI
AWS training and certification preferred
Command line operations and/or experience using scripting languages (bash, python, other) to solve operational and technical challenges in production workflows
BS/BA in Computer Science/Engineering or equivalent is preferred.
Minimum Qualifications
5+ years experience in live broadcast engineering support and on-air production systems
Experience with live encoding, video transport and/or cloud-based infrastructure
Strong understanding of video production and remote production engineering
Strong understanding of broadcast transport technologies
Strong understanding of live HLS encoding technologies
Ability to distill complex engineering solutions to production, business and product teams
This role will require after-hours and weekend support
Pay & Benefits
At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $142,300 and $263,300, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
