JOB SUMMARY:

Receive, process, log, track and follow up requests for further testing, consults, second opinions and continued care from pathologists, outside physicians, outside facilities and patients. Work must be completed daily to ensure good turn-around-times.

Must be a team-player, maintain a cooperative attitude and support on-going changes in a professional manner.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Process requests and complete paperwork for further testing requested by Pathologists
  • Process requests, complete paperwork and send to pathologist for approval all requests placed by outside physicians, outside facilities or patients
  • Understand and follow protocols for molecular testing per insurance requirements
  • Timely and accurately enter comments and orders into LigoLab system
  • Scan requisitions and/or slide loans for each case into LigoLab
  • Pull blocks and/or slides for each request to be sent out
  • Log each request when completed into current tracking log
  • Daily packaging of all requests and preparation for shipping via FedEx, UPS or courier
  • Follow up all outgoing requests to ensure timely reporting and specimen return
  • Scan and log all incoming reports from outside facilities/laboratories
  • Give reports to transcriptionists for further handling
  • Log and file all materials that are being returned after testing
  • Follow up and communicate with pathologists as needed

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Previous medical lab experience with medical/pathology terminology is preferred.
  • Excellent typing/data entry skills.
  • Must be able to adapt to changes in the work schedule and work process.
  • Must possess good analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Must be detailed oriented.
  • Must possess excellent time management skills with ability to prioritize work based on the demands.
  • Must be able to multi-task.
  • Must be a team player.
  • Must possess good judgment.
  • Must possess excellent computer, phone and verbal communication skills.
  • Must be able to work with minimal supervision and must be able to work well with all others.

Hours are 8AM -4:30PM - Monday - Friday - in office
