Job description

Overview
NaphCare is hiring a Lab Tech Phlebotomist to join team of medical professionals in the Arizona Department of Corrections-Phoenix in Phoenix, AZ.
As a Lab Tech Phlebotomist, you will work alongside correctional officers and other medical professionals to provide care to the patients. This is a unique position where you can make a difference to this diverse population of patients with complex needs.

Responsibilities
The Lab Tech Phlebotomist collects blood and other specimens from patients for laboratory testing, ensuring accurate patient identification, sample labeling, and proper handling to maintain specimen integrity. Duties and responsibilities may include and are not limited to:
  • Performs venipuncture and finger sticks on patients, adhering to safety protocols.
  • Labels specimens accurately, processes them for testing, and operates centrifuges.
  • Verifies patient identity, explains procedures to reduce anxiety, and ensures patient comfort.
  • Cleans and sterilizes equipment, restocks supplies, and manages hazardous waste according to OSHA/CLIA standards.
  • Enters patient information and test orders into databases and requisitions.

Qualifications
Education / Experience / Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Completion of a phlebotomy technician training program.
  • Proficiency in blood collection techniques, strong communication, and attention to detail
  • Must possess an active BLS CPR Certification (American Heart Association required)
  • Able to work independently and in a team
  • Ability to interact effectively with patients from diverse backgrounds, including those with mental health or substance abuse issues
  • Must have the ability to maintain confidentiality of all proprietary and/or confidential information and integrity, professionalism and ability to adhere to a Code of Conduct and comply with all facility(s) correctional healthcare policies, procedures, and legal requirements
  • Must pass the facility's criminal background check and drug screening

Working Conditions:
Must have the physical and mental capacity to work in an environment that may be less than pristine, as well as manage and maintain physical and mental health when encountering stressful situations.
