TITLE: Computer Technician

POSITION SUMMARY: The Computer Technician supports the district's educational mission by maintaining and optimizing our technology infrastructure, device ecosystems, and asset inventory. This role delivers proactive, customer-focused technical support, ensuring seamless and secure access to the digital tools necessary for a learning environment.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Associate degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or equivalent hands-on industry experience.
  • 3 5 years of experience in IT support, network administration, or systems maintenance. Previous experience supporting technology in a K-12 or higher education environment is highly preferred.
  • Any equivalent combination of education, certifications, and experience deemed appropriate by the Executive Director of Technology and Information or Designee
  • Manage end-to-end IT support, including hardware deployments, software installations, system upgrades, and routine break/fix repairs for staff and student devices.
  • Ability to diagnose and resolve complex hardware, software, and network issues efficiently. Utilize a systematic approach to root-cause analysis to ensure accurate, first-time resolutions that minimize classroom downtime.
  • Experience supporting modern educational technology environments, such as Google Workspace for Education, Microsoft 365, 1:1 device programs (e.g., Chromebooks, iPads), and Mobile Device Management (MDM) platforms (e.g., Jamf, Google Admin Console).
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills (both oral and written). Ability to translate technical concepts into accessible language for educators, administrators, and students.
  • Highly self-motivated professional capable of working proactively and driving tasks to completion with minimal daily supervision.
  • Strong ability to assess priorities, manage multiple urgent support tickets under pressure, and maintain keen attention to detail in a fast-paced school environment.
  • Valid Ohio driver's license and insured vehicle for onsite repairs.
  • Ability to safely lift, carry, and maneuver IT equipment up to 35 pounds without assistance.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
  • Participates in all phases of technological equipment repair services.
  • Support the operation and maintenance of the district's network infrastructure, including unified communications (VoIP), AV/video conferencing systems, and secure wired/wireless data networks.
  • Collaborate with educators and administrative staff to provide technical support, ensuring seamless access to district data systems, digital learning platforms, and cloud-based resources
  • Maintain inventory records for all district technology assets, including staff laptops, student 1:1 devices, and classroom peripherals. Utilize asset management software to track device lifecycles, warranties, deployments, and retirements to ensure strict accountability and audit readiness.
  • Uphold cybersecurity standards by enforcing district Acceptable Use Policies (AUP), and maintaining strict compliance with educational data privacy regulations (such as FERPA and COPPA) to safeguard sensitive student and staff information.
  • Responsible for organizing storage areas, restocking inventory, tracking, cycle counting and deployment of inventory items.
  • Provides technical training and assistance to staff
  • Develops and maintains professional, personal skills and knowledge of emerging technologies necessary to execute the functions of a Computer Technician.
  • Ensures the safety of students.
  • Establishes and maintains cooperative professional relationships.
  • Remains free of any alcohol or nonprescription controlled substance and abuse of any prescribed controlled substance in the workplace throughout employment in the district.
  • Exhibits professional behavior, emotional stability, and sound judgment.
  • Serves as a role model for students in how to conduct themselves as citizens and as responsible, and intelligent human beings.
  • Understands the legal responsibility to help instill in students the belief in and practice of ethical principles and democratic values.
  • Maintains confidentiality and respect for confidential information at all times.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Superintendent or his/her designee.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: 261 days (251 work days and 10 paid holidays); 8 hours per day, excluding lunch; number of days of vacation, holidays and salary as determined by Negotiated Agreement. Work year to be established by the Board.
SALARY: $27.03/HR. - $31.34/HR.
