Job description

Estimator job description

Analyzes printing job specifications to calculate costs for materials, labor, and production time. Key responsibilities include preparing bids, advising sales on printing options, collaborating with sales and production teams, and recommending cost-saving solutions. The role requires strong attention to detail, math skills, and knowledge of printing processes. 

Responsibilities

  • Develop accurate product estimates and pricing by entering customer, sales or creative supplied specifications into estimating program (PACE) and determining the appropriate production centers required.
  • Evaluating all methods of production for price and efficiency
  • Follow established guidelines and procedures.
  • Exhibit ability to take verbal instructions while taking notes to properly produce assigned projects.
  • Exhibit excellence in customer service and the ability to serve others.
  • Excellent time-management, ability to manage deadlines
  • Smart and self-reliant, able to produce great work with minimal supervision and within tight timelines.
  • Ability to work independently and find the best solutions for a problem.
  • Detail-oriented, excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Self-starter and highly organized.

Skills & Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of print manufacturing preferred. Wide format manufacturing would also be an advantage.
  • Prior work history or secondary education in print, graphic or related industry preferred
  • Must demonstrate strong oral and written communication skills, attention to detail, and proficiency with computers.
  • Strong math aptitude.
  • Strong time management, critical thinking, monitoring, organization, coordination, judgment, problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to work collectively and in a team environment. Ability to meet deadlines consistently.
  • Qualified candidates will be high integrity individuals who are adaptable, innovative, and are a team player.
  • Candidates should possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Candidates with a minimum of 5 year professional level work experience in a bindery estimating or a commercial printing facility would be preferred.
