Job description

Ready to shape the future of science and global health? A global nonprofit that provides trusted biological materials for science and health, ATCC is hiring a Biologist. This onsite position in Manassas, VA supports laboratory activities within ATCC Federal Solutions in a biomanufacturing environment, offering diverse learning opportunities and cross-functional collaboration with teams across ATCC Federal Solutions. The role contributes to the production, characterization, testing, and quality assurance of biological materials while supporting product integrity and contractual deliverables. The Biologist applies core biology techniques and laboratory practices to help ensure high-quality biological products are produced in accordance with established procedures and quality standards.

Seeking a Biologist, ideally with a background in biological sciences and experience supporting production, quality control, and characterization of biological or viral materials. Join ATCC and be part of a team that supports the global scientific community with trusted, authenticated biological materials.


  • Production Operations: Conduct manufacturing processes for biological materials, including viability and purity testing, following approved procedures and quality standards.
  • Quality & Compliance: Document production activities in batch records and databases while adhering to cGMP, safety, and organizational requirements.
  • Biological Material Characterization: Support testing, characterization, and quality assurance activities to ensure product integrity.
  • Process Support: Assist with implementation of production methods, technologies, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Laboratory Operations: Maintain inventory, monitor equipment functionality, and support laboratory readiness in BSL-1 and BSL-2 environments.
  • Team Collaboration: Partner with colleagues to support production goals, routine troubleshooting, and funded project activities.

  • Minimum Requirement: Bachelor's degree and 2 years of experience, or equivalent experience (Master's degree and 0 years, or HS Diploma and 6 years).
  • Experience in biomanufacturing, biological production operations, and laboratory environments.
  • Knowledge of aseptic technique and laboratory instrumentation.
  • Experience maintaining production documentation, batch records, and laboratory data.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment while following established procedures.
  • Preferred: Experience supporting quality control, production, and characterization of viral materials.

The expected salary range for this position is $65,000 to $75,000 annually. Actual compensation will be determined based on experience and qualifications as well as internal equity and alignment with market data. In addition to base salary, this role may be eligible for additional incentive compensation including regular merit increases and the corporate bonus program.
