Job Title

  • Mineral Company Floater Position - Packing, Live Admin + Warehouse
  • This is a long term primarily packing + warehouse position, however, because this is a small business and an interdependent team, we want to ensure that all new employees are cross trained to fully understand the business from all angles and to be able to fill in for others should they need time off for sickness or vacation
  • Each sub-section is described in detail below

Packing Job Purpose

  • In charge of packing complex mineral specimen orders safely, neatly, accurately, and effectively while working both cooperatively and independently with a small team to complete between 200-1000 orders per week.
  • Maintaining all duties related to order packing to create a functioning department that can operate independently of management.

Live Admin Purpose

  • In charge of quickly and accurately typing and keeping track of customer orders on Google Sheets during live sales on TikTok, coordinating with the team to place claimed items on the correct order, and adding calculated shipping at the end.

Warehouse Purpose

  • In charge of receiving wholesale orders, unpacking specimens, reflatting, labelling, pricing and organizing in alphabetical order by species and then by locality
  • Keeping the warehouse organized, safe, and neat at all times.

Packing Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Opening and editing orders as needed on WooCommerce and Google Drive
  • Maintaining, updating and organizing open box customer orders
  • Choosing adequate packaging, folding, taping, and sealing packages safely and efficiently
  • Wrapping and packaging a large variety of minerals with varying levels of fragility and value to arrive to customers in perfect condition
  • Flatting and stocking packaged orders for pick up and separating by carrier
  • Maintaining and updating shipping material inventory
  • Packing supply intake and organization
  • Keeping all workspaces organized
  • Breaking down and organizing boxes from all departments
  • Following procedures
  • Tracking performance of self and other team members
  • Attending and contributing to weekly meetings

Live Admin Duties and Responsibilities

  • Typing customer orders quickly and accurately in a live sales environment
  • Accurately spelling mineral names and global localities and prices
  • Keeping attention and energy high for 8 hours straight with a 20 minute break in between
  • Accurately hearing the live sale host, accurately communicating orders in a fast paced environment

Warehouse Duties and Responsibilities

  • Carrying heavy boxes full of rocks
  • Unpack wholesale specimen orders without breaks
  • Sort specimens by size + flat in correctly size boxes
  • Label boxes by protocol
  • Put away and organize flats by protocol
  • Keep warehouse tidy and organized

Required Qualifications

  • Must be able to do repetitive tasks accurately and attentively for long periods of time
  • Must be able to sit or stand for long periods of time
  • Must be able to lift heavy boxes
  • Must be able to maintain alertness and energy over a long period of time
  • Must have strong attention to detail and basic problem solving skills
  • Must be able to take direction, follow instructions, and ask questions

  • Mineral knowledge including ability to identify species and locality, as well and the ability to identify value and recognize fragility
  • Geology, Mineralogy or Gemmology education or background
  • Previous order packing experience
  • Previous start up or micro business experience
  • Pattern recognition and problem solving skills

Working Conditions

  • This is a start up company that is continuously building and improving management, infrastructure, and systems. Team members need to be able to deal with unexpected situations and growing pains.
  • The owners are deeply engaged in the daily operations of the business and are frequently unavailable for things outside of job related questions, and high importance situations. Completely unavailable during live sales.
  • Intensive physical labor and deep, long-standing focus and attention to detail required. While it is a friendly environment - distractions are detrimental to the functioning and performance of the team.
