Job description

Job Summary:
 
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented 811/GPR Locator to join our team. The GPR technician will be responsible for identifying and marking underground utility lines to ensure safe excavation practices. This role is crucial for preventing accidents and ensuring compliance with local regulations.
 
Key Responsibilities:
 
- Conduct thorough inspections and locate underground utilities, including water, gas, electricity, and telecommunications.
- Utilizing GPR and RD unit to identify utilities. 
- Accurately mark utility lines on-site using industry-standard paint and flags.
- Review and interpret utility maps and plans to ensure precise locating.
- Respond to locate requests in a timely manner, adhering to established timelines and procedures.
- Communicate effectively with contractors, homeowners, and utility companies regarding utility locations and safety protocols.
- Maintain detailed records of locate requests, site visits, and marked utilities.
- Stay informed about local regulations, safety practices, and industry standards related to utility locating.
- Collaborate with team members to improve processes and enhance safety measures.
 
Qualifications:
 
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional technical training or certifications in utility locating is a plus.
- Previous experience in utility locating, construction, or a related field preferred.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Familiarity with GPS and locating equipment.
- Ability to interpret maps and technical documents.
- Physical ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions and navigate construction sites.
- Familiar with GPR unit is a plus.
