Job description

SJS Executives, LLC (SJS), also doing business as SJS Industrial, is currently seeking a reliable Biomedical Equipment Technician to work full time for SJS Executives supporting ongoing operations at a local Veteran’s Affairs Hospital in Long Beach, CA.


SJS Executives is a Service-Disabled Veteran Owned Small Business (SDVOSB) with 250 employees coast to coast and a headquarters in Virginia Beach, Virginia; we specialize in professional services to support federal and military organizations.


The Pay for this position will be $32/hr and comes with combined 80hrs of Sick/PTO, Medical, Dental, Vision, STD, LTD also offered.


Responsibilities:

  • Perform preventive maintenance (PM) and corrective maintenance (CM) on a wide range of medical equipment, ensuring compliance with manufacturer specifications and Joint Commission standards.
  • Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair hardware and software issues on biomedical devices, including configuration, calibration, and peripheral installation.
  • Service and maintain equipment such as vital signs monitors, infusion pumps (CareFusion Alaris series), enteral feeding pumps (Covidien Kangaroo), surgical tables (Skytron), and diagnostic devices.
  • Coordinate PM schedules with the Contracting Officer Representative (COR) and clinical staff to minimize operational disruption.
  • Complete detailed service documentation, including maintenance checklists, repair summaries, parts replaced, labor hours, and equipment identification data.
  • Ensure all service reports are properly submitted, signed, and compliant with regulatory and facility requirements.
  • Provide on-demand technical support to clinical staff to ensure continuous operation of critical medical equipment.
  • Maintain accountability for PM completion timelines; ensure all scheduled maintenance is performed within designated service windows.

Qualifications:

  • In accordance with federal regulations, possession of a valid Real ID is a requirement for this position.
  • US Citizenship is required.
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in a Clinical Engineering or Biomedical Equipment program performing PM and CM on medical devices.
  • Ability to troubleshoot both hardware and software issues across multiple biomedical platforms.
  • One or more of the following preferred (may substitute for experience):
    • Certified Biomedical Equipment Technician (CBET) or Certified Radiology Equipment Specialist (CRES)
    • DoD Biomedical Training (AFSC 4A2X1, MOS 68A, NEC HM-8478/HM-8479/HM-8410)
    • Associate degree or higher in Biomedical Equipment Technology, Electronics, or Information Technology
  • Familiarity with medical equipment including:
    • CareFusion Alaris systems (8015, 8100, 8110, 8120)
    • Covidien Kangaroo ePump
    • Philips and Welch Allyn vital signs monitors
    • Bladder scanners (e.g., Verathon BVI 9400)
  • Knowledge of regulatory compliance standards (e.g., Joint Commission) and clinical documentation requirements.
  • Must satisfy all additional federal, VA, and facility-specific credentialing requirements.
  • Must be able to successfully pass a drug test and a thorough background check for access onto a military installation; please note the background check for this position extends past 7 years, in conformance with federal law and US Department of Justice guidelines for work on a military installation.
