The Berlin Township School District, located in Camden County, New Jersey, is seeking qualified candidates for an anticipated opening for a Long Term Substitute 5th Grade English Language Arts Teacher.  Candidates must possess certification in English (K-12) or Middle School endorsement for English Language Arts or Elementary School K-6. The district is committed to excellence in education through a strong belief that each and every student can learn at high levels.  The ideal candidate should possess the following:

  • Ability to work in a collaborative setting (co-teach)
  • Knowledge and understanding of the New Jersey Student Learning Standards
  • A philosophical and practical understanding of differentiated instruction and a balanced literacy program including structured writing instruction and vocabulary development
  • Broad knowledge of varied age, interest and appropriate fiction and non-fiction texts
  • Ability to differentiate instruction, learning activities and assessments based on individual student learning needs
  • Capacity for using student performance data for short and long term planning of instruction
  • Practical knowledge of current, research-based, effective educational practices
  • Strong and effective classroom management and behavior management skills based on Positive Behavior Supports and Restorative Discipline paradigms
  • Practical and instructional knowledge, skills and application in technology for educational purposes 

  • Excellent speaking and writing communication skills
