About the Role

We are now looking for an Engineering Lab Technician (Contract) in the Datacenter Systems & Board Design Team to support testing and debug of NVIDIA''s datacenter products. This role will collaborate with an innovative multidisciplinary world-class team of engineers to help build and develop our industry leading GPU accelerated computing products. This role will maintain and debug lab systems involving sophisticated system level hardware and software. System level performance testing is accomplished using industry leading Deep Learning/AI applications. In this role you will gain a deep understanding of datacenter products as we take on the challenge to solve complex technical issues, so there will be plenty of opportunity for learning new skills related to datacenter products and infrastructure. The primary responsibility is to support our engineering teams during development to ensure outstanding quality GPU server products may be released to the market and delight our customers so that AI scientists and datacenter operators can achieve their professional aspirations using NVIDIA technology. The role will work independently to complete daily tasks according to priorities, demonstrate a passion towards system level product quality, and should be comfortable in an engineering lab environment.

We are looking for someone who can support day to day operations while staying close to the hardware. The best fit is comfortable working with prototype systems, RF testing equipment, and hands-on operational work.

Technical Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in an engineering lab, data center, hardware validation lab, wireless testing lab, or similar technical environment.
  • Hands-on familiarity with enterprise server hardware, PC components, networking gear, power equipment, lab fixtures, and prototype hardware.
  • Experience assembling, configuring, troubleshooting, repairing, and deploying hardware systems.
  • Strong organization skills for inventory, asset tracking, ticketing, documentation, and hardware lifecycle management.
  • Understanding of lab safety, and safe handling of critical or pre-production hardware.
  • Bachelor''s degree or equivalent experience.
  • Ability to communicate clearly with engineers, vendors, operations teams, and cross-functional partners.

Ways to stand out

  • Experience with Linux systems, BIOS or firmware updates, BMC/IPMI, networking, server bring-up, or hardware debug.
  • Familiarity with 5G testing or lab automation.
  • Experience supporting R&D teams working with silicon, boards, platforms, or pre-production systems is especially valuable.
  • Scripting / Agentic experience for inventory, reporting, dashboards, or lab operations is a plus.

HM Notes 8/21/26: This team is responsible for developing the software to create 5G and 6G wireless. Several lab locations in Santa Clara, main location is in Building K (K1). Lab occupies half of K1 floor. 16 racks of servers in K101 and they have smaller racks that test 5/6G equipment in K106. They also have open space area, which is kind of a staging area for the robotics equipment They want candidates with Keysight experience or any 5G testing equipment or related experience. Ideal candidate doesnโ€™t need to operate the robotics equipment but support different teams (aerial team) to setup demo stage. They also need someone that can do racking and stacking at an L1.5-L2 level. This team, lab and role is mix of data center racking/stacking, Engineering lab testing, Wireless testing and HW Validation testing (in order of priority and importance)
