Job description

SAIC is seeking a Senior RF Engineer to lead engineering efforts related to the design, manufacture and sustainment of US Navy Aircraft Equipment, related systems, and other military systems in support of its Indianapolis, IN facility. 

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Tasking will include but will not be limited to leading teams in the design, development, modification, evaluation and test of a variety of electronic equipment and electrical systems. May work with radar and related RF systems, electronic warfare systems, communications equipment and systems, other receive and transmit equipment and systems, software defined radios, antennas, GPS and other guidance systems, circuitry components, analog and digital circuits and processors, control systems, acoustic systems, electro-optic systems, weapon system launch and control circuitry, and test equipment design and development. Candidate is expected to have mastery in the use and application of technical standards, principles, theories, concepts and techniques for designing RF circuits, layout of circuit cards, analyzing electronic systems, and troubleshooting electronic and electrical constructs. Candidate is expected to be able to work independently and solve complex electrical engineering problems for multiple simultaneous projects. Candidate will work to standardize electrical engineering processes and tools for the facility and will guide the electrical engineering team in the implementation of the processes and tools.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE AND CLEARANCE

  • Bachelors and nine (9) years or more experience; Masters and seven (7) years related experience.
  • Strong experience with RF system design.
  • Extensive experience with circuit card assembly layout processes and procedures.
  • Experience generating electrical requirements and translating them into circuit design to achieve desired output.
  • Ability to fault isolate complex RF and other electronic systems and CCAs in a field or lab environment to identify faulty component or design deficiency.
  • Strong background in developmental and qualification testing of electronic assemblies and/or CCAs to include experience with environmental, EMI, and EMC testing.
  • Strong experience in antenna selection and other RF system optimization, to include component selection and analysis
  • Experience writing and interpreting technical reports, requirements and interface documents, white papers, and proposals.
  • Experience preparing presentation material and presenting to peers, project tram members, customers, and managers at all levels
  • Computer skills:
    •  Microsoft Office Suite.
    • Experience with Electronic CAD tools such as Altium and PADS
    • RF performance modeling tools
  • Analog and digital design including, serial communication, logic design, power design, signal filtering and wave shaping.
  • Experience with Configuration Management Toolsets for version control of hardware, software, and documentation.
  • Candidate must be a US Citizen
  • Must be able to obtain a DoD Secret Clearance. 

DESIRED EXPERIENCE:

  • Experience leading teams of engineers and/or other related project personnel. 
  • Experience running small projects related to electronics system development and/or integration.
  • Experience with reverse engineering electronic and electrical systems. 
  • Experience working in a small team collaborative environment. 
  • Already possess military security clearance at the Secret or above level. Safety Critical Hardware Design & Analyses (DoD, Medical, Automotive). 
  • Product Life Cycle Management.  
  • Experience with product development procedures, specifically iterative product design & development of embedded systems. 
  • Knowledge of Integrated Defense Acquisition and Logistics Life Cycle Management System, System Engineering Technical Review process, FDA Design Control Guidance for Medical Devices processes, or other experience with industry regulatory guidance.
