Job Description:

Job Summary

Provides support, guidance, training, and technical assistance to local school districts and Georgia Department of Education (GaDOE) staff in the implementation of special education programs and services. Serves as a statewide resource for the effective use of Georgia Online IEP (GO-IEP) and Georgia Online 504 (GO-504), helping districts meet state and federal requirements, improve data quality, and support positive outcomes for students with disabilities. Assists with Part B data reporting requirements, monitoring activities, system enhancements, data analysis, and compliance with the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA), federal regulations, and State Board of Education policies. Develops guidance documents, reports, presentations, and training materials, and provides responsive customer support through consultations, trainings, phone calls, emails, and help tickets. Collaborates with internal and external stakeholders to ensure accurate data collection, reporting, and effective implementation of special education and Section 504 programs across the state.

Job Responsibilities include but are not limited to

  • Supporting the implementation of the Individual with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) fiscal programmatic requirements in accordance with federal regulations, policies, and guidance as well as the State Board of Education policies;
  • Preparing and providing technical assistance and training to local educational agencies regarding the implementation, and effective use of GO-IEP and GO-504 including using this information for data reporting;
  • Assisting the program manager with the prioritizing and testing enhancements to GO-IEP;
  • Preparing clear and accurate reports and other documents related to the areas of responsibility
  • Providing customer service and support to local educational agencies as well as GaDOE staff related to GO-IEP
  • Assisting with data analysis

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of state and federal guidelines, including the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act
  • Highly effective interpersonal, group, verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Demonstrated success in self-motivation, initiative, and leadership
  • Demonstrated success in collaborating with school personnel, staff, students, and other support agencies or organizations
  • Ability to manage multiple, overlapping high-priority tasks in a fast-paced environment

Minimum Qualifications

  • Must hold Georgia Professional Standards Commission Educator's Certificate
  • Master's degree in a special education field or educational leadership
  • Five years of experience in a leadership role in special education
  • Experience with Special Education Data Reporting

Minimum Qualifications:

High school diploma/GED and seven (7) years of program management experience; or two (2) years of experience required at the lower level Education Prgm Spec 3 (EDP032) or position equivalent.
