Bullen Ultrasonics is looking for an experienced CNC Grinding Specialist to develop and optimize precision grinding processes for hard, brittle materials and advanced technical ceramics. This is a hands-on programming and process role supporting complex components used in aerospace and other high-technology applications.

The right person will own 3-axis and 5-axis CNC grinding programs, translate drawings and GD&T into practical machining strategies, develop fixtures and tooling, work closely with Metrology, and help improve machine reliability and shop performance. The role also provides opportunities to support less-experienced machinists and contribute to continuous improvement.

This is a first-shift, Monday–Friday position paying $34–$41 per hour. Bullen is flexible about the daily start time, with options around 6:00 or 8:00 a.m., and overtime is available.

⚙️ What you’ll be doing

  • Create, prove out, and optimize 3-axis and 5-axis CNC grinding programs for hard, brittle materials
  • Interpret engineering drawings, GD&T, work instructions, and customer specifications
  • Develop machining processes that meet dimensional, finish, quality, and delivery requirements
  • Design and manufacture fixtures, tooling, jigs, and supporting components
  • Operate and support CNC grinding and jig-grinding equipment
  • Use manual lathes and manual/CNC vertical mills to produce tooling, fixtures, and replacement parts
  • Work with Metrology to verify dimensional accuracy and respond to inspection results
  • Troubleshoot programs, tooling, workholding, machine performance, and process variation
  • Support equipment maintenance, repairs, machine reliability, and organized tooling systems
  • Mentor less-experienced machinists and support improvements in quality, safety, productivity, and delivery
  • Follow Bullen’s Quality Management System and applicable procedures

✅ What we’re looking for

Required:

  • 5+ years of experience programming CNC grinding equipment
  • Ability to develop and troubleshoot CNC grinding processes independently
  • Experience reading engineering drawings and applying GD&T requirements
  • Strong machining, mathematics, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision and manage technical priorities
  • High school diploma or GED

Preferred:

  • Experience grinding hard, brittle materials or technical ceramics
  • 3-axis and 5-axis CNC grinding and jig-grinding experience
  • Aerospace manufacturing experience
  • Familiarity with PowerMill, Mastercam, SolidWorks, or ESPRIT
  • CMM or Metrology experience
  • Associate degree in engineering or a related technical field
  • 8–10 years in a manufacturing or production environment
