Job description

Responsible for providing support functions throughout the Anatomic Pathology department, including cytology, histology and pathology. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, grossing and special procedure assistance, cytology, gynecological and non-gynecological specimen prep, non-core lab specimen and transport workflows, clerical tasks and general operations of the department. Position requires travel between facilities in order to provide coverage throughout the system. In general, the Anatomic Pathology Support Assistant provides support as needed to supplement the technical tasks of the department. . Accountable for all tasks and responsibilities as designated by the CLIA rule and/or delegations made as a result (laboratory documentation delineates this specific information). Fulfills the expectation for the completion of all responsibilities as determined by the applicable CLIA role. Duties are performed under the supervision of the Charge Cytotechnologist, AP General Specialist, Charge Histology Tech/Histology Senior Technologist and/or AP Laboratory Supervisor, Department Supervisor, Laboratory Administrative Director, Site Laboratory Manager and Laboratory Medical Director.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
High School graduate or equivalent, plus successful completion of >=5 credit hours of college-level Biology/Chemistry or 1-3 years of clinical lab experience.
