Job description

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
High School Diploma or GED Certificate.
Electric Line Maintenance Journeyman Certification.
Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering from accredited college or university.
10 years' experience of practice, methods, equipment, materials, and tools of the electrical trade.
10 years' experience of the National Electric Code, National Electric Safety Code and REA construction standards.
10 years' experience in construction, practices, hotline procedures and procedures of aerial life devises first aid, rescue practices and the NTUA Safety Manual related to electrical systems.
5 years of supervisory experience with considerable knowledge of engineering theories and principles.
Valid Driver's License required (subject to motor vehicle record review).
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES AND PERFORMANCE OBJECTIVES:
Responsible for providing project management and foreman direction to ensure successful construction of distribution and transmission projects. Makes certain that projects are closed out within specified timeline.
Plans assigns, schedules and supervises the work of Foreman, Journeyman, Apprentices, Groundmen and Power Saw Operators engage in the construction, installation, maintenance and repair of power lines.
Ensures overall quality of work in compliance with the Safety Standard. Construction Specifications, design and load requirements. Monitors and reviews deviation reports and schedules crews for field corrections.
Responsible for preparing annual Capital and Operations and Maintenance budgets for the field operations. Monitors the budgets and oversees the expenditures and financial needs.
Estimates time and material cost required for projected job; keeps cost and job records and submits reports; initiates purchases requisitions for supplies, tools and equipment.
Enforces safety regulations, rules and working conditions. Conducts periodic inspections and provides on-site supervision over hazardous or unusual work assignments, completes reports related to investigations and/or job related incidents in coordination with the NTUA Safety Department and supervisors.
Recruits and trains personnel in the safe operation of equipment and tools; and instructs subordinates on detailed procedures.
Trains, coaches and mentors personnel in the proper procedures for safe construction installations of transmission and distribution lines including de-energized and energized lines.
Responsible for development of the performance criteria of direct reports, apprentices and involved with the recruiting and hiring qualified staff.
Responsible the coordination with the District Managers and their supervisory personnel involving construction and maintenance of new overhead and underground lines, substations and service request.
Provides cross-training with electric construction crew.
Performs other related duties assigned.
