Job Title: Cafeteria Assistant 4 hr

Primary Location:  Luce Elementary          

Employment Type: Part-Time Regular         

Schedule: 9:00am to 1:00pm                   

Hourly Rate: $15.01                 

Term: 180 Days      

Reports to: Cafeteria Manager

Handbook: Classified (non-bargained)

Job Summary: We are seeking a dependable and enthusiastic individual to join our school cafeteria team. As a School Cafeteria Assistant, you will assist in preparing and serving meals, maintaining a clean and organized kitchen, and ensuring that students receive nutritious meals in a friendly and welcoming environment. 


Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist with food preparation, including cooking, portioning, and packaging meals.
  • Serve meals to students and staff in a professional and timely manner.
  • Clean and sanitize kitchen equipment, utensils, and dining areas to comply with health and safety regulations.
  • Stock and organize inventory, ensuring proper storage and rotation of supplies.
  • Follow all food safety and sanitation guidelines.
  • Collaborate with team members and report any issues to the cafeteria manager.
  • Foster a positive dining experience for students, including encouraging healthy eating habits.
  • Run a cash register and make change.
  • May be required to attend training sessions on rare occasion outside of the regular work schedule as deemed necessary by the Director of Food Service or Cafeteria Manager
  • Any additional tasks deemed necessary by the Cafeteria Manager 

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • ServeSafe preferred but not required.
  • Prior experience in food service or kitchen operations is a plus but not required.
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs on occasion and stand for extended periods.
  • Knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work in a team-oriented environment.
  • Punctuality, reliability, and a positive attitude.
  • Reliable transportation to and from work.
