School Bus Driver - 4 Hours
Posting Date: May 4th, 2026 Position Begins at the Start
Application Deadline: May 25th, 2026 (or until filled) of the 2026-2027 School Year
Position Overview
The successful candidate will operate a school bus on assigned routes, ensuring the safe transportation of students while maintaining a positive and orderly environment. The position is approximately 4 hours per day, typically split between morning and afternoon routes.
Qualifications
  • Valid Michigan Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with appropriate endorsements (or willingness to obtain)
  • Valid School Bus Driver Certification (or ability to obtain)
  • Ability to pass required background checks, physical, and drug screening
  • Strong commitment to student safety and well-being
  • Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently

Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous school bus driving experience
  • Knowledge of local roads and community
  • Experience working with children or in a school setting

Responsibilities
  • Safely transport students to and from school and school-related activities
  • Conduct pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections
  • Maintain discipline and a safe environment on the bus
  • Follow all state laws and district transportation policies
  • Communicate effectively with students, parents, and school staff
  • Report any incidents, concerns, or maintenance needs promptly

Work Schedule
  • Approximately 4 hours per day
  • Split shift: morning and afternoon routes
  • Additional hours may be available for extracurricular trips

Compensation & Benefits
  • Wages and benefits per the Brimley Educational Support Personnel (ESP) Master Agreement
  • Participation in MPSERS retirement system (as applicable)
  • Paid training may be available for qualified candidates needing CDL certification
